Porch pirates are people that steal packages and other things from people's front porches. If you order a lot of things and your packages are constantly getting stolen, you should install a security camera. Below are different types to choose from so your packages will not get stolen. 

Wired or Wireless Security Cameras

There are wired and wireless security cameras available. Wireless connects to a Wi-Fi signal and is easier to install. A wired system is more stable, however. This camera is constantly recording. If the camera catches someone you can use the video clip to see the person. You may know them or someone near you may know the person.

Fixed security cameras have the ability to zoom, tilt, and pan so a wider area of your yard is covered. This will allow you to record the license plate number if your driveway is not long or the car is not parked far away from your home. 

You use a remote to control the movement of the camera. If you choose to purchase a smart fixed security camera you install an app on your phone. You can then use the app to control the movement of the camera. You can choose a fixed security camera that has motion sensors, so they automatically zoom, tilt, and pan when motion is detected. Some have timers that you can set for the camera to move around at certain times of the day, such as when you are not home. 

A Security Camera on a Doorbell

There are security cameras that are connected to a doorbell. These cameras are always on so anyone that walks up to your front door is recorded. You can see a recording on a smartphone, tablet, etc. anywhere you are as long as you have an Internet connection. They are generally easy to install as they are wireless. 

One benefit of this security camera is it has voice control. You can actually speak through the camera to the intruder even if you are not home. This will scare someone away quickly. You could also tell the person to drop the package if they have already retrieved it. If you are not home, you could contact the police and let them know what is going on. Using this camera along with a fixed, wired, or wireless camera will give you the most protection.
